اسم [Ism]

© Joji Okamoto
While it frequently recalls a traditional jazz trio in its acoustic make-up this trio’s music is something more inscrutable. Spontaneous abstract forms akin to written contemporary music deliver a continuous flow of high voltage charges, sustained by a quietly insistent pulse.
اسم [Ism] is a name written in ink. A race through European creative music. A round trip, Berlin – Oxford, via Paris, اسم [Ism] is composed of Pat, Joel and Antonin in a silence in fragments without an actual name. Acoustically speaking, the trio creates abstract forms close to written contemporary music, but with sounds that remind us of traditional jazz trios. The groove that appears in that music is dense, extreme but always calm. For an explosive music. In Arabic, اسم [Ism] is a way of connecting different cultural and imaginary worlds. اسم [Ism] is a word that means The Name.
