Virtuoses et joyeux drilles, les 14 musiciens du Umlaut Big Band, issus pour la plupart de la nouvelle garde du jazz (Un Poco Loco, ONJ, Duke Orchestra) et de l\u2019improvisation europ\u00e9enne (Die Hochstapler, Peeping Tom, Bribes 4, White Desert Orchestra, ONCEIM), c\u00e9l\u00e8brent ensemble depuis 2011 l\u2019\u00e2ge d\u2019or du swing dans la pure tradition des orchestres big band, qu\u2019ils soient mythiques ou injustement oubli\u00e9s.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dans \u00ab\u00a0Euro Swing vol.2\u00a0\u00bb, le Umlaut Big Band documente une autre histoire du jazz en Europe entre 1925 et 1940 : celle des passeurs am\u00e9ricains. Alors qu\u2019un premier volet, \u201cEuro Swing\u201d (Umlaut Records, 2015), s\u2019int\u00e9ressait aux compositeurs et arrangeurs europ\u00e9ens, ce nouvel opus se concentre sur le travail de musiciens am\u00e9ricains sur le vieux continent.<\/span><\/p>\n

Il s\u2019agit ainsi d\u2019\u00e9clairer le r\u00f4le de passeur que des musiciens comme Benny Carter, Duke Ellington, Sam Wooding, Willie Lewis et Fud Livingston ont pu jouer aux quatre coins de l\u2019Europe. Toujours \u00e0 la recherche d\u2019une musique de r\u00e9pertoire surprenante et pointue, le Umlaut Big Band exhume l\u00e0 encore de superbes tr\u00e9sors oubli\u00e9s dans un CD de 15 morceaux et un livret passionnant.<\/span><\/p>\n
