Hannes Lingens - Snare Drum

no rest for the astronaut
Pierre Borel -  Saxophone

This record contains a solo of each artist on one side. "murmur" was composed and performed by Hannes Lingens and recorded by himself in Berlin in July 2009. "no rest for the astronaut" was composed and performed by Pierre Borel and recorded by himself in Paris in September 2009. Nicolas Lefort is responsible for the beautiful artwork as well as the mastering.
It is the first release by Umlaut Berlin and appears in a limited edition of 300.

murmur
The english term MURMUR can be translated into german as MURMELN, which also means MARBLES. The little glass ball running around the rim of my snare drum in this piece hides the actual changes in the music. Like a persons murmur those are hard to follow exactly, with the constant sound of rotation in the foreground. It made perfect sense to me to release the piece on a vinyl record, with the turntable itself referring to the idea of rotation.

no rest for the astronaut
Because I always wanted to be an astronaut...
6´26´´ of saxophon solo
